On April 17, 2025, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) confirmed that port service fees would be imposed on maritime transport services provided by Chinese shipping operators and shipowners, as well as on vessels constructed in China. The new regulations will take effect from October 14, 2025, according to Container News.
