EUROGATE Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW) has reached a new milestone in 2025, handling more than one million standard containers (TEU) within a single year for the first time in its 13-year history. The record-setting 1,000,000th TEU was processed in the presence of government and industry leaders, marking a significant achievement for Germany’s only deep-water port, as reported by EUROGATE.

The milestone was achieved with the arrival of the anniversary container from shipping line Hapag-Lloyd, delivered as part of the Gemini Cooperation’s NE1 service, which designates Wilhelmshaven as its European first-port-of-call. The container, shipped for the international logistics company Gebrüder Weiss, contained machine parts from China for an agricultural industry client. CTW’s Managing Director Holger Bomm credited the achievement to strong partnerships with carriers and the hub-and-spoke strategy of Gemini Cooperation, noting that the terminal is now demonstrating its full potential. Industry representatives emphasized that the port’s tide-independent deep-water access, reliable operations, and efficient handling are strengthening supply chains and reinforcing Wilhelmshaven’s importance as a key logistics hub for Northern Europe.
