- New terminal spans 230 acres with 190 acres for future development.
- HOST commits $6 million for upgrades and equipment enhancements.
- CEO Adam Anderson highlights commitment to Louisiana’s economic growth.
T. Parker Host (HOST) has just made a significant move by acquiring the Impala Terminals Burnside facility, which is conveniently located at Mile Marker 169 on the East Bank of the Lower Mississippi River. From now on, this site will be known as Ascension Bulk Terminal. Spanning 230 acres, with 190 acres set aside for future development, this acquisition positions HOST for some serious long-term growth in this vital region, reports FAN.
Investment in Facility Upgrades
To enhance operations at Ascension Bulk Terminal, HOST is investing a hefty $6 million into upgrading equipment and improving infrastructure.
Adam Anderson, Chairman and CEO of HOST, stated: “This move reinforces our dedication to Louisiana and our ongoing commitment to fostering economic growth in Ascension Parish and beyond.” With more than 500 employees and over $200 million already invested in local infrastructure, HOST’s expansion reflects a strong focus on regional economic prosperity.
Expanding Terminal Portfolio
This acquisition really bolsters HOST’s terminal portfolio in the area. They now operate three privately owned sites:
- United Bulk Terminals in Davant
- Avondale Global Gateway in Avondale
- Ascension Bulk Terminal in Burnside
On top of that, HOST also provides terminal services at Port Allen in Baton Rouge. All in all, HOST manages over 1,500 acres, with more than 1,000 acres earmarked for future development projects.
Broader Expansion Strategy
This purchase is part of HOST’s ongoing growth strategy. Earlier in 2025, the company:
- Acquired Transmarine Navigation Corporation, which expanded its agency services to the U.S. West Coast and Hawaii.
- Took over Impala Fleeting Burnside, enhancing their barge fleeting operations at their terminals.
Facility Background
The former Impala Terminals Burnside, previously owned by Trafigura, specialised in handling dry commodities like coal and petroleum coke.
