The Noatum Ports Malaga Terminal functions as a strategic Mediterranean logistics hub and a multipurpose terminal capable of handling all types of cargo. The terminal faces significant pressure from rising cargo volumes and increasing environmental requirements. Its primary challenge is to balance the need for high operational efficiency, reliability, and safety with its commitments to emission reduction.

Scope of Kalmar’s Service Provision

Under the contract, Kalmar is responsible for providing preventive and corrective maintenance services for the terminal’s entire fleet of equipment. The fleet includes essential port machinery such as ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, terminal tractors, and various units of mobile equipment. Kalmar will deploy more than 20 service technicians on site to ensure reliable daily operations, greater efficiency, and a smaller environmental footprint through optimized maintenance practices.

Noatum’s Perspective on the Partnership

César Cegarra, Director of Noatum T Malaga S.A.U., stated that partnering with Kalmar was a choice based on the company’s reputable status and deep technical expertise. He believes the agreement will elevate the terminal’s performance, enabling it to deliver greater value to customers while successfully advancing its sustainability agenda.

Sergio Peralta, Country Director for Spain & Portugal at Kalmar, expressed pride in the trust placed in Kalmar to maintain and optimize such a critical part of the terminal’s operations. He affirmed that Kalmar’s dedicated local service team will ensure maximum availability and reliability of the fleet and help Noatum advance its environmental performance, noting that the agreement demonstrates the value of Kalmar Care as a comprehensive service solution.
