In a significant step towards promoting sustainable maritime practices, ClassNK has announced a collaboration with GTT Training Ltd., a subsidiary of GTT specializing in the education and skill development of professionals in the LNG and future fuels industry.
Through the ClassNK Academy, this partnership aims to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of maritime professionals by offering specialized training focused on alternative fuels, particularly liquefied natural gas (LNG).
GTT’s Expertise and Training Approach
GTT is globally recognized for its technological and engineering innovations in the design and development of cryogenic membrane containment systems used in the transport of low and zero-carbon fuels like LNG. Its systems are widely used in LNG carriers and floating facilities, playing a vital role in the decarbonization of maritime transport.
Meanwhile, GTT Training leverages this expertise to deliver high-quality training programs that blend theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This ensures that maritime professionals are well-equipped to handle new-generation fuels safely and efficiently.
ClassNK Academy’s New Course Initiative
As a first step under this collaboration, ClassNK will introduce the course “LNG, AMMONIA, METHANOL AND HYDROGEN: AN INTRODUCTION”, developed by GTT Training. The course offers an overview of emerging marine fuels, their unique characteristics, associated hazards, and safety measures required for handling them.
This initiative aligns with ClassNK’s ongoing commitment to supporting decarbonization, safety improvement, and capacity building within the maritime sector.
The partnership between ClassNK and GTT Training represents a progressive move toward shaping a safer and greener maritime future. By combining GTT’s technological expertise with ClassNK’s educational platform, this collaboration will empower maritime professionals to adapt to the evolving energy landscape and play a crucial role in achieving the industry’s sustainability and safety goals.
