All crew members have been safely rescued following a flooding incident aboard a vessel that took place within Ukraine’s Search and Rescue (SAR) zone. The quick coordination between Ukrainian and Turkish authorities ensured a successful evacuation and rescue operation.

Distress Call and Evacuation

At around 1:00 p.m., the vessel’s crew sent a distress signal reporting flooding onboard. Acting swiftly, the captain ordered a full evacuation, and all crew members abandoned the vessel using life rafts.

Successful Rescue Operation

The Ukrainian authorities, responsible for coordinating rescue efforts within the SAR zone, promptly contacted the Turkish Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC Ankara). MRCC Ankara deployed the Turkish-flagged vessel Murat Ilhan to assist. The responding vessel located the life rafts and safely rescued the crew, who were reported to be in good health.

The incident highlights the importance of timely international cooperation in maritime emergencies. Thanks to the coordinated response between Ukrainian and Turkish authorities, all seafarers were brought to safety and have since been handed over to relevant authorities for further procedures.
