According to the official statement from the Arab Republic of Egypt Presidency, the meeting between the Egyptian president and A.P. Møller-Maersk Group’s leadership marked a significant step in strengthening cooperation in shipping, logistics, and green-fuel initiatives.

During the high-level discussion, Egypt reaffirmed its ambition to position itself as a regional hub for sustainable port operations and integrated logistics. The partnership with Maersk was recognised for advancing the Suez Canal Authority’s container terminal expansion at East Port Said and supporting Egypt’s growing role in global maritime trade through enhanced infrastructure and investment.

Maersk’s board chairman expressed appreciation for Egypt’s political and economic stability, highlighting the strategic importance of the Red Sea corridor to international shipping. He noted the company’s commitment to Egypt’s development agenda, including efforts to expand port infrastructure, logistics platforms, and clean-fuel supply chains as part of a broader regional strategy.

The meeting also focused on operational areas such as terminal management, digital logistics, and the adoption of green-fuel systems within port operations. Egypt pledged continued support for maritime investment and assured its readiness to resolve any challenges faced by Maersk in the local market—demonstrating policy alignment between national authorities and industry stakeholders.

This collaboration reflects the growing alignment between governments and global operators in shaping a cleaner, more efficient maritime future. With increasing focus on decarbonisation, digitalisation, and infrastructure development, Egypt’s partnership with Maersk underscores the nation’s commitment to driving innovation and sustainability across the regional logistics chain.
