  • Polish and U.S. officials held talks in Washington to enhance energy cooperation, focusing on increasing LNG supplies from the U.S. to Central Europe.
  • Discussions also covered the development of Poland’s first nuclear power plant in partnership with Westinghouse.
  • The initiative aims to strengthen regional energy security and reduce dependence on Russian gas.
  • Poland’s expanding LNG infrastructure positions it as a key hub for supplying gas to neighboring countries, including Slovakia and Ukraine.

Technology group Wärtsilä and TMS Cardiff Gas have renewed their Lifecycle Agreement for another five years, covering the 2-stroke main engines onboard seven LNG carrier vessels. The renewal aims to maintain high operational reliability and optimise maintenance schedules, ensuring maximum time between overhauls. The new order was recorded by Wärtsilä in Q3 2025, according to a release from the company.

Reliability Through Lifecycle Support

During the talks, both sides emphasized the strategic importance of using Poland’s growing LNG infrastructure as a gateway for regional energy supply. The ministry noted that one of the key points was the possibility of increasing U.S. LNG deliveries through the Polish gas hub to meet domestic demand and support energy independence for neighboring countries, including Ukraine.

With Poland’s current LNG terminal in operation and another under construction, the nation is positioned to provide reliable energy access to its southeastern partners, particularly Slovakia and Ukraine, marking a significant step toward reducing the region’s dependence on energy imports from the East.
