A Huge Container Ship Ran Aground in Suez Canal

On July 5, a 117,176 DWT Container vessel MAERSK SHAMS ran aground at 133 kilometer mark in the southern part of Suez Canal.  The vessel was part of the Southbound Convoy (13th of 33 vessels), and some of the other vessels in the convoy were detained.  

Later on the same day, the vessel was reportedly refloated and it resumed transit at around 2100 UTC July 5 and was brought to anchor on Suez anchorage at around midnight.

MARSK SHAMS is en route from Ceuta to Suez.  There were no reports of injuries or damages from the incident.
