Drydocks World, CSL, and CEMS Unite for Maritime Talent Development

Drydocks World, a DP World company, has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and the Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding (CEMS), promoted by the Indian Register of Shipping, to develop an internationally competitive maritime workforce, reads a media release.

The agreement was concluded during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai in the presence of the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, and DP World Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem.

Positioning India as a hub for skilled professionals in shipbuilding

The MoU focuses on positioning India as a hub for skilled professionals in shipbuilding and repair. It aims to close skill gaps through training aligned with international standards, improve employment opportunities for certified trainees in India and overseas, and foster cooperation between industry and educational institutions.

Training will take place at facilities of CSL, CEMS and Drydocks World, using advanced infrastructure and supported by experts from India and the UAE.
