In a commendable act of maritime safety and humanitarian effort, Wan Hai Lines’ vessel WAN HAI A19 successfully rescued two people adrift in the Eastern Pacific Ocean on November 6, 2025. The rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard’s Joint Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) Alameda, following a distress alert about a sunken boat.
Swift Response and Successful Rescue
Upon receiving the distress signal, RCC Alameda coordinated with WAN HAI A19 to assist in the search and rescue mission. The vessel promptly altered its course and began a systematic search under RCC direction, locating and rescuing the two survivors at coordinates 03-57.17N / 110-44.43W.
The survivors identified as nationals of Guatemala and Ecuador were brought safely onboard. Initial assessments confirmed that both were in stable condition. They received medical attention, hydration, nourishment, and warmth aboard the vessel to ensure full recovery from their ordeal at sea.
Commitment to Safety and Humanitarian Values
Following the rescue, WAN HAI A19 proceeded to the designated rendezvous point near the coast of Guatemala for the safe transfer of the survivors to local authorities. The successful operation highlighted Wan Hai Lines’ adherence to the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue, emphasizing its dedication to maritime safety and humanitarian assistance.
