ADNOC L&S Launches UAE’s First Remotely Operated Offshore Landing Craft

11

ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) has introduced the UAE’s first remotely operated offshore landing craft, a 60-metre unmanned vessel designed to enhance safety, reduce emissions, and improve the efficiency of offshore logistics. Developed in partnership with SeaOwl, the new platform was officially showcased during Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week 2025.

AI-Enabled Design to Enhance Safety and Cut Emissions

The unmanned offshore vessel integrates AI-enabled systems, satellite-linked remote controls, and teleoperation from ADNOC L&S’s center in Mussafah. With no onboard accommodation required, the vessel is lighter and more fuel-efficient, enabling continuous operations without crew-related limitations.

ADNOC L&S expects the AI-driven route optimisation to reduce carbon emissions by up to 30% compared with conventional crewed vessels. Its hybrid power management system is also designed to further minimise fuel consumption and support the UAE’s Net Zero ambitions. The vessel’s onboard AI allows it to maintain safe autonomous navigation even if communication is interrupted.

Prototype Development and Industry Impact

Construction of two prototype vessels will begin by the end of 2025, with delivery expected in late 2026. This will be followed by sea trials and a comprehensive safety validation programme in UAE waters.

ADNOC L&S CEO Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi described the launch as a major step in transforming maritime logistics through digital innovation, emphasising improvements in safety, emissions, and operational cost-efficiency. SeaOwl CEO Xavier Genin highlighted the partnership as a global benchmark for autonomous maritime operations, combining advanced teleoperation and AI technologies to reshape offshore logistics.

The introduction of the UAE’s first remotely operated offshore landing craft marks a significant milestone for ADNOC L&S and the region’s maritime sector. By combining AI, remote operation, and hybrid power technology, the initiative supports both operational efficiency and national sustainability goals, while positioning the UAE at the forefront of next-generation offshore logistics.
