Świnoujście Port Achieves First-Ever Ship-to-Ship LNG Bunkering Operation

Świnoujście Port in Poland has completed its first ship-to-ship (STS) LNG bunkering operation, according to Bunker Market. The milestone took place on 11 November 2025, marking a major step in the port’s efforts to support cleaner maritime energy.

During the operation, an LNG-powered ferry was refuelled via STS transfer by a bunker vessel, using liquefied natural gas supplied from Świnoujście’s LNG Terminal. This followed the terminal’s recent first commercial LNG loading, made possible by a major expansion funded under the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility.

The STS bunkering operation lasted approximately 3.5 hours, showcasing coordination between energy and maritime stakeholders to enable LNG distribution at sea. With the new ship-to-ship capability, Świnoujście is positioning itself as a significant hub for sustainable shipping in the Baltic region.
