The Port Authority of Valencia reports that export activity across its terminals recorded an 11.7% increase in October, marking one of the most notable monthly improvements in Valenciaport’s recent container performance. According to the statistics released, the terminals in Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía handled 492,772 TEUs during the month, a year-on-year rise of 4.46%, with 85,961 units moving as export cargo.
The data shows that overall cargo throughput totalled 6,128,740 tonnes in October, a slight month-to-month decline of just over one percent. However, the increase in containerised cargo reinforces the continued resilience of the port’s core activity and highlights shifting dynamics in maritime logistics and container shipping.
From January to October, Valenciaport processed 67,171,486 tonnes, reflecting a modest decrease of 1.12% compared with the same period last year. Over that same ten-month period, container volumes reached 4,779,759 TEUs, up 3.74%. Looking at the rolling 12-month cycle, the terminals handled 79,903,482 tonnes (-0.85%) and 5,647,910 TEUs (+4.47%), further illustrating a steady uplift in container volumes against a softening in total tonnage.
The report also highlights the continued rise in regular shipping passengers. Since the beginning of 2025, passenger traffic across both regular lines and cruise services reached 1,468,748 people, a slight increase of 0.60%. Regular line passengers recorded the strongest movement at 741,859 (+1.75%), while cruise passenger numbers stood at 726,889, a minor decrease of 0.55%. In October, regular line movements grew to 56,649 passengers, whereas cruise passenger numbers eased to 93,848, down 16.18% from the previous month.
In international trade flows, China continues to lead Valenciaport’s foreign traffic, registering 7,448,835 tonnes (+12.57%) and 702,248 TEUs (+18.94%). Italy followed in tonnage with 5,680,488 tonnes, while the United States held its position as the second-largest TEU market with 314,955 containers (+1.22%). Algeria also recorded notable activity with 269,423 TEUs, an increase of 32.64%.
These figures reflect how Valenciaport’s terminals continue to play a significant role in regional and international port operations, supported by consistent export demand and strengthening container flows.
