Wärtsilä Gas Solutions will supply integrated cargo, fuel gas and reliquefaction systems for SIPG’s new LNG bunkering vessel.
-
SIPG has already completed over 200 bunkering operations and handled more than 1 million m³ of LNG using Wärtsilä technology.
-
The new vessel will receive equipment in 2026 and is expected to enter service by summer 2027.
Wärtsilä Gas Solutions will provide a full range of systems for the new LNG bunkering vessel being built at Jiangnan Shipyard for Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) Energy Shanghai Co. The order, booked in Q3 2025, includes cargo handling, the fuel gas supply system and Wärtsilä’s Compact Reliq (CRS) for boil-off gas reliquefaction.
SIPG Expands LNG Bunkering Capabilities
SIPG has been operating LNG bunkering services actively in Shanghai. Over the last three and a half years, the company has completed over 200 bunkering operations, delivering more than 1 million cubic meters of LNG to visiting vessels.
He Bin, Vice General Manager at SIPG Energy Service, said the reliable performance of Wärtsilä systems is the main reason they partnered again for this new vessel.
Wärtsilä’s Integrated Systems for Higher Efficiency
Wärtsilä noted that demand for LNG as a marine fuel continues to grow. Their integrated technology is designed to optimise overall bunkering efficiency and vessel performance.
Barry Yang, General Manager Sales for Wärtsilä Gas Solutions in China, said they are working closely with SIPG and the shipyard to fine-tune the system and deliver stronger operational results.
Scheduled Delivery and Commissioning
Wärtsilä will deliver the equipment to Jiangnan Shipyard in 2026, and the new LNG bunkering vessel is expected to be commissioned by summer 2027. This project strengthens SIPG’s position in the LNG bunkering sector and supports the wider shift towards cleaner marine fuels.
