Maersk has announced the appointment of Thomas Theeuwes as the new Managing Director for its India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka operations, effective January 1, 2026. He will succeed Christopher Cook, who will move into the role of Managing Director for Maersk in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The transition highlights Maersk’s focus on strengthening leadership across high-growth regions.
A Leader with Deep Global Experience
Thomas Theeuwes brings nearly 20 years of global industry experience to his new role. Having joined Maersk in 2007 in Belgium, he has worked across Europe, China, and Africa in senior commercial and leadership positions. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of the West Africa Area, where he built a strong leadership team and consistently delivered strong business results.
Maersk leadership praised his track record, with Richard Morgan, Managing Director for the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa, noting that Thomas’s broad international exposure will help accelerate growth in one of Maersk’s most dynamic markets.
