Yang Ming Issues Advisory On Accurate Cargo Declaration Requirements

8

Yang Ming has released a new customer advisory stressing the importance of complete and truthful cargo declarations. The company highlights that accurate information is necessary to ensure safe operations, regulatory compliance, and smooth cargo handling both at sea and onshore.

Importance of Full and Truthful Cargo Details

Yang Ming reminds shippers that all cargo-related descriptions, characteristics, and required documents must be provided during booking and again at the time of issuing the bill of lading.
Any concealment, omission, or misdeclaration whether related to standard cargo, waste cargo, or dangerous goods poses serious risks. These include threats to life, property damage, economic losses, and operational disruption. Accurate declarations help protect vessels, crew, port staff, and the overall supply chain.

Penalties and Liabilities for Misdeclaration

If any inaccurate or false cargo information is detected, shippers will be required to pay any additional freight or charges caused by the misdeclaration.
They must also indemnify Yang Ming against all losses, damages, legal claims, or expenses resulting from incorrect declarations, including incidents involving injury, death, or property damage.
Additionally, Yang Ming will impose a Cargo Misdeclaration Fee whenever any form of misdeclaration is found even if no actual loss or damage occurs on top of any other applicable charges.

Yang Ming strongly urges customers to comply with accurate cargo declaration rules to maintain a safe, compliant, and reliable shipping environment. The advisory reinforces the carrier’s commitment to protecting its operations and ensuring the safety of all stakeholders involved in maritime transport.
