Hanwha Ocean has secured a new shipbuilding order worth 2.59 trillion won ($1.75 billion) to construct seven LNG carriers for a European shipowner. The vessels will be built using the yard’s latest LNG carrier designs, reflecting continued demand for gas transportation tonnage.

Orderbook Strengthens Further

With this latest contract, Hanwha Ocean’s total orders for the year have climbed to 51 vessels, valued at around $9.83 billion. This already exceeds the company’s full-year order intake from last year, highlighting strong momentum across multiple vessel segments.

Technology Drives Demand

The shipbuilder said the deal reflects growing confidence among European owners in its high-pressure LNG engine technology, which supports lower carbon emissions and improved fuel efficiency. LNG carriers remain a key growth area as owners continue to renew fleets amid evolving environmental requirements.
