A general cargo ship ran aground off Langoya Island in Holmestrandsfjorden, Norway.  The vessel named Hagland Boss suffered a mechanical problem and stuck on rocky/mud shallow with a force due to the pressure of the winds and currents.

The crew was powerless to refloat the vessel and raised a distress call.  The local authorities rushed to the scene of the accident and a tug was dispatched for rescue operations.

The tug towed the distressed cargo vessel towards Frederikshavn and secured her at the anchorage.  After examination, it was reported that the vessel suffered damages to the rudder and propeller but fortunately the hull was not damaged.

It is reported that the vessel will be inspected for safety and seaworthiness after the repairs are carried out.

There were no injuries to the crew members and no water pollution during the accident.  The local authorities have started an investigation into the circumstances and the root cause of the grounding.
