A feeder container reportedly ran aground at breakwater after it deviated from its course and got stuck near the breakwater.
What happened?
The feeder container ship Ze Hong ran aground at breakwater of Bayuguan harbour in Yingkou port, northeast China. The vessel was manoeuvring to enter the port, but deviated from the course and left the shipping way, which caused being stuck in a bank near the breakwater.
Towed to shallow waters:
The crew was not able to refloat the vessel by own power and reported the accident to the local authorities, requesting assistance.
At the scene of the troubled feeder container ship were sent three harbour tugs, which towed her to a safe depth.
It was estimated that during grounding there were no serious damages to the hull and the ship proceeded to the dock in Yingkou port.
Human error deemed to be the cause of grounding:
The root cause of the accident is under investigation, but probably the grounding was caused by human mistake, as there were no reports about the blackout.
Fortunately, there were no injured people and no water pollution.
The local authorities ordered a special survey and underwater inspection of the ship, before allowing her to return to service.
