The stunning video showing the unloading of the world’s heaviest cargo on Teesside shores.

The footage, filmed over nine hours, shows the Brent Delta oil rig ‘topside’ being pulled into Able UK in Seaton Carew.

The 425-ft tall, 24,000 tonne rig is to be decommissioned at the port.

And the video, lasting just one minute and 20 seconds, documents the end of the platform’s journey from its home in the North Sea to its final destination in Seaton Carew.

The whole process of unloading the cargo from the ship took nine hours in total on Sunday.

Work stopped on the platform in 2011, but it is the first of four platforms to be taken down from Shell’s Brent oil field.

The tale of how the rig will be dismantled sparked interest as the huge load made its way to the North-east.

The huge task to dismantle the platform has been undertaken by Able UK, and the Brent Delta was carried into Teesside by the world’s largest ship.

The Pioneering Spirit, which is equal to six Boeing 747 planes, lifted the platform 115 miles east of Shetland and carried it to be scrapped.
