The construction work has commenced recently, on AIDA Cruises’ new AIDAnova, Carnival Corporation and this will be fully powered by the first of seven ships by liquefied natural gas (LNG). AIDA President, Felix Eichhorn, said in the press release, that one of the major task of AIDA Cruises is to set to make cruises sustainable. The AIDAnova’s main structural part of the vessel extending the length of the bottom was placed in the shipyard at the Meyer Werft, on 6th Sept 2017. Eichhorn and Tim and Bernard Meyer, CEOs of Meyer Werft, have made their presence for the lowering of the first of 90 blocks in a ceremonial gathering. Bernard Meyer was thankful to the Carnival Corporation and AIDA Cruises for their confidence and revolutionary conclusion to implement LNG in the vessels on board says a release. Merits of LNG, and salient features of AIDAnova

To be precise, LNG almost eliminates particulate matter and sulfur dioxide and decreases nitric oxide and CO2 emissions.  AIDA Cruises’ AIDAprima and AIDAperla can previously be animated by LNG in port with their dual-fuel engines, but AIDAnova would be the first international cruise ship skilled to run on the low-emission fuel source in port as well at sea and this has been possible by its four dual-fuel engines. The lead of the all seven LNG cruise ships, is by AIDAnova, built for the Carnival Cruise Line, Costa Cruises, Carnival UK and AIDA Cruises brands, by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany and Turku, Finland.  The targeted time, which the new ship is set to sail after 2018 with a maiden term around the Canary Islands commencing in December. Its 180,000-ton and 2,600-stateroom sister-ship is to follow in spring 2021.
