The “Fu Yuan Yu Leng 999” has sailed from San Cristóbal on Sep 26, 2017, around 8 p.m. in order to drop about 300 tons of fish in the Pacific Ocean, after protected species, such as shark, were identified on board.
The destruction of the cargo began on Sep 27 around noon, prior to a series of analyzes that minimize the impact, in accordance to the ruling of the Judge of San Cristóbal, Alexandra Arroyo, on Aug 27.
He also ordered an imprisonment of 1 to 4 years for the 20 crew members, all Chinese citizens.
