Bulk Carrier Sunk Coaster in Collision Off Shanghai

On October 31, a cargo vessel reportedly sank after colliding with a bulk carrier.

What happened?

The bulk carrier ‘Li Dian 2’ collided with a cargo vessel ‘LV Di 67’ in the Waigaoqiao Channel, Shanghai.

Cargo vessel sinks:

During the collision incident, the cargo vessel reportedly started sinking. The control office was alerted and patrol boats were immediately dispatched to rescue 7 crew members stranded onboard the sinking vessel.

The SAR officials are searching for a crew member who was reported missing.

Investigation launched:

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of collision and clean up activities have been initiated after oil leak was spotted in the vessel sinking spot.
