The tanker ran aground in Southport after the Captain of the tanker faced propulsion issues. The incident occurred in the intracoastal waterway near River Drive.
Propulsion issues:
The captain of the tanker alerted about an issue with the propulsion which caused the tanker to run aground.
The Coast Guard has been continuously monitoring the situation and evaluating how the situation can be brought under control by employing tow tugs.
