VLGC Collides with Tanker Off South Korea

On January 31, a VLGC was reportedly involved in a minor collision with tanker in the outer anchorage, South Korea.

What happened?

The VLGC ‘Passat’ belonging to Norwegian gas ship owner Avance Gas was involved in a collision with the tanker ‘New Confidence’ at the outer anchorage in the Pyontaek, South Korea.

The tanker’s hull was damaged during the minor collision but no injuries to the crew members or pollution to the environment were reported. The tanker was reportedly in anchorage when the VLGC collided with it.

Statement released

Avance gas released a statement saying that the captain of the VLGC and the port officials are taking necessary actions to control the damage.

Both the vessels are being inspected for damages and will be allowed to leave once their seaworthiness is verified.
