World’s First Hybrid Ship Launched in Norway

The World’s first hybrid ship ‘MS Roald Amundsen’ was launched in Norway by Hurtigruten, at the Kleven Yard in Ulsteinvik, Norway.

The vessel is Hurtigruten’s first hybrid ship and the celebratory launch is considered as a significant milestone in the construction of the world’s first hybrid-powered expedition ship.

Features of the vessel

The vessel is the first of the two groundbreaking hybrid ships released by Hurtigruten and it is exclusively custom built incorporating green technology to explore the most spectacular waters.

The construction of the second vessel ‘MS Fridtjof Nansen’ is underway at the Kleven Yards and due to be launched in 2019.
