On March 1, the firefighters were called in during the early hours to contain a fire which broke onboard a docked vessel.
What happened?
The unnamed vessel was docked at Royal Portbury Dock and was carrying a large quantity of animal feed when it caught fire.
Around fifty firefighters were called in to contain the fire which had originated from the cargo hold of the vessel.
Blaze contained
The firefighters employed up to eleven appliances to contain the fire which was believed to have started accidently.
One crew member was taken to Southmead hospital as a precautionary measure while others were uninjured.
Investigation underway
An investigation has been initiated to look into the incident about the events leading to the fire. The Bristol Port Company said, “An excavator in the hold of the ship had caught fire, and a full investigation will be undertaken”.
