King of the Seas Once Again with World’s Largest Cruise Ship

4019

Royal Caribbean is the king of the seas once again.

On Friday, the cruise company accepted the delivery of the Symphony of the Seas vessel. And it’s about time, as the massive ship took more than three years to construct.

“It is a proud and exhilarating moment to welcome a new member to the family,” Royal Caribbean president and CEO Michael Bayley told reporters at the ship’s delivery ceremony in St. Nazaire, France. “Symphony will take family vacationing to an all new level with energy and options never before found in one place.”

With this newest ship, Royal Caribbean beat its own record for the largest ship in the world. The Symphony of the Seas, which clocks in at 1,188 feet long, is only slightly larger than the current largest ship, Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas, according to the reports.

The newest ship, however, will have more cabins than the Harmony, and will come with two-story family suites that have a slide connecting the second and first floors. The brightly-colored room is perfect for families looking to have fun 24/7 out in the ocean.

But the family fun won’t stop there. The ship’s boardwalk amusement area will also have a laser tag attraction and a new seafood restaurant. Of course, the ship also has dozens of other restaurants and bars for guests to choose from, along with a number of entertainment options including several pools, slides, and live performances of the Broadway hit “Hairspray.”

In total, the ship can hold up to a whopping 6,680 passengers, making it a small city on the seas. According to USA Today, the ship will spend its first few months sailing in the Mediterranean out of Barcelona. It will eventually move to Miami to take families on cruises around the Caribbean, which you can book now for travels starting in the fall of 2018.
