Ten people are missing after two cargo vessels collided with each other off China’s east coast, near Shanghai around Sunday midnight, according to Shanghai Maritime Search and Rescue Center.
What happened?
The police received an alert at around 1:38 a.m. BJT on Sunday, when the cargo vessel, Shun Qiang 2, collided with another vessel, Yong An Lun, before it sank in the Wusongkou anchorage in Shanghai, causing 13 people to fall into the water.
Three Rescued
Three people have been rescued by Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration.
It is reported that Shun Qiang 2 was sailing from Nanjing, east China’s Jiangsu Province, to Guangzhou, south China’s Guangdong Province, with 13 people onboard as well as 3,000 tons of rolled steel.
Search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
