Singapore-listed offshore services provider Sembcorp Marine(SCM) secures $1b contract with Heerema Offshore Services (HOS) to build the world’s largest DP3 semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV).
The engineering and construction contract is a follow-up to an earlier exclusive letter-of-intent signed between SCM’s wholly owned subsidiary Jurong Shipyard and HOS in March 2015. NSCV will be the largest dual-fuel semi-submersible crane vessel in the world. This is scheduled to be delivered in the 4th quarter of 2018.
The NSCV is designed for the installation and decommissioning of major offshore facilities, globally. The NSCV will be equipped with two Huisman heavy-lifting offshore cranes, which will have a lifting capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes each and a large reinforced work deck area. It will have a length of 220m, width of 102m and displacement of 273,700 MT.
The Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore has Phase 1 that stretches up to 73.3 hectares and is equipped with four VLCC drydocks with a total dock capacity of 1.55 million deadweight tonnes. Phase II spans 34.5 hectares and includes a steel fabrication facility and three dry docks, one of which is an offshore dock measuring 255m by 110m.
