On September 4, a general cargo vessel ran aground in a sandy area situated off the northern coast of Evia.

What happened?

The Panama flagged cargo vessel ‘Arslanbey’ ran aground in a sandy area off the northern coast of Evia. The cargo vessel was enroute from Rostov-on-Don port to Istanbul when the incident occurred.

Crew safe

The fourteen crew members onboard the vessel were safe and no injuries were reported. The reason for the vessel running aground is unknown. Moreover, no pollution to the environment was reported.

Salvage operation initiated

The owner of the company has commissioned a private firm to detach the vessel from the sand so as to facilitate its journey.
