Turkey bombs IS group targets in Syria for the first time to stop the advancement of IS through Iraq and Syria.

Turkish police also raided more than 100 properties in Istanbul, arresting 251 people linked to IS, the office of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said.

Highlights:

  • Turkish forces exchanged fire with IS fighters near the Syrian border.
  • The negotiations between the US and the Turkish government came to fruition.
  • Turkey will now let the US launch air strikes against IS from the Incirlik air base.

Turkey would take “all necessary measures” to protect national security following the attacks, the prime minister’s office said.
