On March 2, a product tanker was attacked by pirates near Lome, Togo waters, Gulf of Guinea, reports Medium.

What happened?

The vessel Histria Ivory with 21 Romanian crew members on board was attacked by pirates near Lome, Togo waters, Gulf of Guinea.

The ship sustained damages during the attack and hijack, and is in need of some repairs since its communications equipment was destroyed or damaged.

Crew kidnapped

Several seamen were kidnapped, exact number yet unknown, confirmed three. The remaining crew members were unharmed and the vessel is currently anchored at Lome Anchorage.

The authorities are trying to communicate with the pirates to facilitate the release of the crew members.
