An LNG carrier owned by Norwegian LNG transportation company Awilco LNG has been struck by another vessel off Singapore on May 30, reports Platts.
En-route to yard in Singapore
Norway’s Awilco LNG said no crew injuries or spill has been reported. The WilForce is now en-route to a yard in Singapore for class inspection and hull repairs, it said in a press release.
It is currently unclear how long the vessel will be offhire, Awilco said.
LNG vessel has full insurance cover
“The vessel has full insurance cover for repair expenses and loss of hire, subject to a deductible,” the company added.
The WilForce is a 156,007 cubic meter tri-fuel diesel electric propulsion, or TFDE membrane, LNG vessel with a DWT of 87,750 mt, according to the company’s website.
“Based on a preliminary assessment of facts, Awilco LNG holds the other vessel fully and completely liable for the collision, and the company expects to recover all costs, losses and expenses including deductibles in due course,” Awilco said.

Singapore’s waterways are one of the busiest in the world. A ship arrives or leaves the Port of Singapore in every two-three minutes.
Singapore is also the world’s largest bunkering port and its annual bunker sales volumes were close to 50 million mt in 2018.
