The shipping transportation solutions provider Neptune Lines, makes an important investment in scrubbers with 10 units installed until Q1 2020, reports MarineLink.
Scrubber installations
Denmark-based ME Production (MEP), a leader in marine technologies solutions for marine equipment and energy markets will supply the units.
The first two installations were successfully completed in Odessos shipyard in Varna and commissioned shortly after.
Compliant with IMO regulations
Integrating these MEP systems will make the ships be compliant with the International Maritime Organization’s SOx regulations, which will be put into action from 2020.
Also, the regulations will represent the most far reaching, fundamental change in worldwide maritime transportation in the last decades.
Technology for 2020 compliance
Neptune Lines’ vessels is a major short-sea car carrier operator with an integrated liner network and it consumes large quantities of bunker fuel every year.
By implementing the hybrid-ready scrubber technology, Neptune Lines is aiming to manage the risks of the new regulation.
After carefully researching this technology, the company is confident that it delivers an environmentally friendly, safe-to-operate and flexible solution to the 2020 Sulphur cap regulations.
