- Subsidiaries of Singapore’s Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) have clinched contracts worth approximately SGD130m ($95.7m) for a newbuild LNG-ready dredger and the modification of an FPSO vessel.
- The contract with Van Oord is to build a high specification TSHD following an option granted to Van Oord based on earlier contracts.
- Upon completion, the FPSO will have a storage capacity of 700,000 barrels of oil and a processing capacity of 60,000 barrels of oil per day, and deployed in Anyala and Madu fields.
Keppel FELS and Keppel Shipyard have clinched contracts worth approximately SGD130m ($95.7m) for a newbuild LNG-ready dredger and the modification of an FPSO vessel, reports Seatrade Maritime News.
Keppel Offshore & Marine
The contracts won by the two subsidiaries of Singapore’s Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) are from their repeat customers.
Chris Ong, CEO of Keppel O&M, said that this is the third newbuild dredger for Van Oord and the third FPSO project for Yinson.
Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD)
The contract with Van Oord is to build a high specification TSHD following an option granted to Van Oord based on earlier contracts entered in May 2018 for two similar dredgers.
The 10,500 cu m capacity LNG-ready dredger is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.
Climate control system
The TSHD will be equipped with a climate control system which utilises the vessel’s existing cooling and heating sources to recycle energy, as well as automation systems which send production data to the shore support centre for processing.
Jaap de Jong, director, ship management department at Van Oord, said the dredgers are part of the company’s strategic fleet renewal plan.
Yinson contract
The contract with Malaysia’s Yinson is for the fast-track modification and upgrading of FPSO Allan.
Keppel Shipyard’s scope of work includes refurbishment and life extension works, fabrication and installation of a new riser balcony, spread mooring system and helideck, as well as modification of the vessel’s topsides and marine systems.
The Yinson project is scheduled to start in the third quarter with delivery expected in the first quarter of 2020.
Upon completion, the FPSO will have a storage capacity of 700,000 barrels of oil and a processing capacity of 60,000 barrels of oil per day.
It will be deployed in the Anyala and Madu fields, offshore Nigeria for First Exploration and Petroleum Development Co.
