Periodic table of Oil
Like the periodic table of elements, this list starts with the lightest crudes and ends with the heaviest. The grades are classified by their specific gravity, or density, and sulphur content.
- Density ranges from light to medium to heavy.
- Sulphur content is categorized as sweet or sour.
Assays can vary from time to time, and the above are based on the latest data generated from S&P Global Platts and Haverly systems.
The output figures reflect 2018 data. The selected crudes are not a complete list of global production. However, they illustrate the diverse nature of oil markets.
