Three ways to learn
BIMCO offers three ways for shipping professionals to learn – as well as a tailored setup for in-house training.
Each of the three ways relies on trainers with years of hands-on experience.
The courses are highly interactive and much of the learning is derived from discussing examples from the participant’s daily work-life.
BIMCO Masterclasses
Duration: 2-3 days.
The topics of the BIMCO Masterclasses are broad and cover a range of issues, such as marine insurance or time chartering.
Experienced trainers will attend the Masterclass for the entire duration and the discussions and exchange of experiences between the trainers and the participants are an integral part of the learning objectives.
All Masterclasses consist of lectures, combined with group case studies.
- The case studies will serve as a future guide for the participants to identify solutions and apply those solutions in their daily work.
- Case studies are done in small teams, enabling participants to brainstorm solutions, apply their current experience and share knowledge.
BIMCO Seminars
Duration: ½-2 days.
BIMCO Seminars cover a specific issue or BIMCO document(s) – like bunkering or SUPPLYTIME.
Like the BIMCO Masterclasses, the trainers will attend the seminar for the entire duration and the discussions and exchange of experiences between the trainers and the participants are an integral part of the learning objectives.
The seminar consists of lectures and group discussions. Some seminars will also have case studies, depending on the topic and time available.
BIMCO Shipping Schools
Duration: 4-5 days.
The shipping schools are extended courses covering multiple topics and skills. The courses are residential, and the participants stay at the conference hotel for the duration of the course.
The trainers will be there for 1-2 days, but not necessarily for the entire duration.
- The seminar consists of lectures and group discussions. Case studies are more comprehensive and may require additional studying.
- The “boot camp” atmosphere is a very important part of the programme. The programme will also include a range of social activities, dinners and excursions and the bonds formed by the participants can last long after the course and serve as a part of an international business network.
BIMCO in-house training
Duration: 1-5 days.
BIMCO can arrange in-house training world-wide. The topics for the training are entirely decided by the buyer.
Course fee
The course fee includes coffee breaks, lunch and course materials, but not transport or accommodation which should be arranged by the participant directly with the hotel.
Course materials and practical information
Shortly before the course start date you will receive an email with further information and a link to download training materials (in PDF).
BIMCO issues electronic course files as an Adobe PDF file enabling you to make personal notes using a computer or tablet. You will need to bring a computer or tablet to the course!
All documentation and presentations will be in English.
