An article in Forbes gives an exclusive first look at the 954-foot-long ship touted to be the ‘Ultimate Private Superyacht.’

The 954-foot-long NJORD

The philosophy behind the design of the 954-foot-long NJORD may have been inspired by some of the largest and most luxurious superyachts in the world.

And having Jean-Louis Stutzmann, the chief designer and experienced ocean liner interior designer working with legendary superyacht designer Espen Øino International may help give the design some superyacht street cred.

But, in reality, NJORD is more akin to The World and other exclusive cruise ships than a private superyacht simply because NJORD is designed to offer a total of 118 residences on board.

According to advanced reports, residences will be available in 21 distinct configurations comprising two, three, four and up to five bedrooms, and ranging from 1,291 square feet up to 8,601 square feet. Some of the largest residences will be comprised of 14 duplex and two triplex residences with private elevators.

Sophisticated residences on-board

All residences will have separate service entries for maximum privacy. Every bedroom will have an ocean view with access to a terrace. And residences will feature high-end kitchens, en-suite bathrooms and walk-in closets in addition to state-of-the-art communication and entertainment systems.

NJORD’s massive size make it possible to accommodate two, eight-passenger twin-engine helicopters, a research laboratory, a complete marina with a multitude of water sports equipment, one seven-passenger submersible and one three-passenger submersible, a custom-built dive boat, expedition zodiacs and four “Riva style” limo tenders.

It’s also equipped with a self-levelling, gyroscopically stabilized telescope set under retractable sliding glass roof.

Dining venues and enrichment programs

A wide variety of dining venues are planned to rival the best restaurants in the world. The ship’s large wellness center will offer panoramic views and include a world-class spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center and an aerobics and dance studio.

In addition, a wide variety of enrichment programs local and regional experts offered through lectures, workshops and hands-on experiences.

Owners will be able to enjoy a wide range of recreational facilities, including a large swimming pool and feature pool for children, a golf center, and an all-purpose sports deck.

My vision is to leave a lasting legacy in our wake,” says Kristian Stensby, founder and CEO of Ocean Residences Development Ltd, the developer of NJORD. “A luxury yacht with a purpose which is meticulously designed by icons of the marine world and that takes personalized services to an entirely new level.”

A research laboratory

NJORD will also be equipped with a professional oceanographic research laboratory so scientists and experts can record sea and air conditions and map the ocean floor.

As residents travel the globe, they are united in a philanthropic purpose, creating positive change where it matters most. They will explore the planet, enjoy it in all its glory, and at the same time, they may want to give something back,” Stensby says.
