A seafarer died and nine are missing in a major collision between MT Elixir and the Nigerian vessel MT Tank.

The accident happened on 19th october 2015 when the 180 meter long, 46874 dwt tanker Elixir collided with the 80 meter long, 4500 dwt tanker off Bonga FPSO, Nigeria.
The self propelled barge, that carried 12 crew members capsized. Later one mortal remains and 3 survivors were rescued from the incident.
Reports state that last minute change of course could be a cause for the collision. The tanker Elixir has been detained by authorities until the investigation is completed.
