Bizarre: A Lady charged with Raping Her Husband
A South Korean woman who had allegedly locked spouse in their home for 24 hours has been charged with raping her husband. Yohan news agency says that Kim is the first lady in South Korea to be charged with marital rape. The lady, according to the Central Prosecutor’s Office in Seoul, had locked her husband inside their house for 24 hours and forced him to have sex with her. Her aim, it appears, is to get a “favourable evidence” for her divorce proceedings.
While the UK had criminalised Marital rape in 1991, rape within marriage was made a crime in South Korea in May, 2013. The UN estimated in 2011 that 127 countries had not amended legislation to criminalise marital rape. Marital rape remains legal in India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Bahamas. In 2014, WHO found that 30 % of the women worldwide had experienced physical or sexual violence by their partners.
