- Höegh Australis was named in Manila, marking another step in the fleet renewal.
- Aurora Class vessels reduce carbon emissions by 58%.
- First Aurora vessel to be ammonia-powered by 2027.
Another landmark day in our journey of innovation and sustainability was marked today by the naming ceremony of Höegh Australis in Manila. The event followed in the wake of Aurora #1, renamed Höegh Aurora last August, and the two sisterships, Aurora #2 and #3. Today, we have taken another great step forward with our green fleet renewal program, reports LinkedIn.
The Aurora Class: A Green Revolution in Shipping
Höegh Australis, along with the other vessels in the Aurora Class, is a new breed for the shipping industry. The largest and most environmentally friendly car carriers ever built, these vessels set new standards for sustainable deep-sea shipping. With carbon emissions per car transported reduced by 58% compared to the industry standard, the Aurora Class vessels are spearheading the green shift we urgently need in the industry.
A Carbon-Free Future Powered by Ammonia
Our commitment to sustainability goes further. From 2027, the first of our Aurora vessels will be fully powered by clean ammonia, with carbon emissions nearly nought. This is a future that will be testimony to our commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
A Heartfelt Thanks to Our Dedicated Crew and Employees
None of these achievements would be possible without the dedication and expertise of our seafarers, particularly our skilled Filipino crew members. Their hard work, resilience, and deep maritime knowledge support our success in performing operations safely and efficiently at sea. We express our gratitude to all the employees in the Philippines, whose invaluable contributions help support our operations and drive the Höegh Autoliners mission forward.
