  • The design targets up to 95% CO₂ emission reduction.According to a company statement as reported by PortNews, Dutch shortsea operator A2B-online has launched A2B Vision, the first of two newbuild 650-TEU container vessels designed to operate on both methanol and conventional marine fuels.

    Vessel launch and delivery schedule

    The launch ceremony took place at SEDEF Shipyard in Tuzla, Türkiye. A2B-online stated that A2B Vision is expected to enter commercial service in mid-2026. The second vessel in the series, A2B Progress, is scheduled to follow shortly thereafter.

    Technical specifications and environmental features

    A2B Vision is equipped with dual-fuel methanol engines and incorporates several energy-efficiency technologies, including gate rudders and a waste heat recovery system. The vessel has a nominal capacity of 650 TEU and can accommodate more than 20 container types, including 45ft, 30ft and tank containers.The vessel’s design includes multi-fuel methanol propulsion, shore power connectivity and battery capacity. These features are intended to enable emission-free operations during port stays and inland waterway transits. According to the company, the vessels are designed to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 95%.
