AAL Shipping celebrated the naming ceremony of its newest vessel, the “AAL Dubai,” which is the fifth of its Super B-Class ships. This event marks both the expansion of AAL’s modern fleet and the company’s 30th anniversary, highlighting its dedication to innovation and high-quality service in the project cargo shipping sector, reports AAL Shipping.

State Of The Art Vessel

The “AAL Dubai,” a 32,000 dwt, methanol-ready heavy lift vessel, was officially named on March 12th at the CSSC Huangpu-Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou, China.

The vessel is named after Dubai, a major project cargo hub in the Middle East, where AAL has maintained a regional office since 2015. This naming follows the Breakbulk Middle East exhibition, where discussions focused on the region’s project cargo potential due to ongoing and planned infrastructure and energy projects.

AAL’s Chief Financial Officer, Liew Teck Liong, highlighted the Middle East’s strong project sector growth, with record-breaking contract awards in 2024. Naming the vessel “AAL Dubai” signifies the company’s commitment to the region, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of their Dubai office and the company’s 30th anniversary.

Versatile Transport

The “AAL Dubai” is designed for versatile cargo transport, capable of carrying heavy lift project equipment, breakbulk, and dry bulk on a single voyage. Its 700-tonne combined lifting capacity offers shippers enhanced efficiency and flexibility.

The vessel will now begin its first voyage, joining other vessels in the “Super B-Class” to serve project cargo customers across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

AAL’s Chief Financial Officer, Liew Teck Liong, noted that the delivered vessels are surpassing expectations. He expressed excitement about redefining the capabilities of heavy lift, multipurpose vessels through their deployment for complex cargo operations.
