Mitsubishi Chemical UK Limited, a subsidiary of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, has secured a long-term lease for a prime storage unit at Hull from Associated British Ports (ABP). Covering 158,000 sq ft and featuring a 53,000 sq ft canopy at King George Dock, the facility is positioned for optimal access to the Humber Estuary and Hull Container Terminal, according to Associated British Ports.
Strategic Facility Lease to Support Growth in Hull
Associated British Ports (ABP) has welcomed Mitsubishi Chemical UK Limited to its Hull site, reinforcing its role in supporting industrial expansion in the Humber region. Andrew Dawes, ABP’s Regional Director for Humber ports, highlighted the partnership as a commitment to fostering business growth through high-quality, adaptable industrial spaces. Greg Lacey, ABP’s Head of Property for Humber, noted that port-based warehousing offers significant logistical advantages by placing operations close to key transport networks, reducing costs, and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
Mitsubishi Chemical UK Limited, a leading supplier to industries including automotive, electronics, medical, and sport, views this move as a major step in its long-term regional strategy. Michael Curtis, PUMA Lead Construction Delivery Manager for Mitsubishi Chemical Group, stated that the new facility at the Port of Hull will help double production capacity and strengthen the company’s ability to meet global demand. The leased facility will also support Mitsubishi and its contractor Fluor Corporation in the development of the SoarnoL™ ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) facility at Saltend Chemicals Park in Hull.
