ABS Preconize Its Chief Engineer

ABS, a leading provider of classification to the global marine and offshore industries, announces the appointment of Bret Montaruli to the role of Vice President and Chief Engineer.

Present chief engineer of ABS Jim Gaughan, who is retiring from ABS after 30 years of service will be succeeded by Montaruli from February 15, 2016

Highlights:

  • Montaruli will be responsible for overseeing the interpretation, application and compliance with the ABS Rules across all ABS Engineering offices worldwide.
  • Bret Montaruli has a bachelor’s degree in Ocean Engineering from SUNY Maritime College and an MBA from the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University.
  • He joined ABS in 1981 and has held a number of leadership roles that include Manager of Offshore Engineering and Vice President of Engineering for the Americas Division as well as Vice President of Offshore Technology, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Technology of ABS.
  • Montaruli will be reporting to Tony Nassif, Executive Vice President and COO.
