AD Ports Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Critical Minerals Forum (CMF) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing the resilience, transparency, and diversification of global critical mineral supply chains.

This collaboration is timely as global demand for essential minerals used in electric vehicles (EVs) and decarbonisation is rapidly accelerating.

Enabling Trade for a Greener Future

The partnership leverages AD Ports Group’s global network of ports, terminals, and shipping routes to support the CMF’s mission of ensuring a stable and transparent critical minerals supply chain. With the rising global focus on decarbonisation, minerals like graphite, cobalt, nickel, lithium, and manganese are seeing unprecedented demand.

“Our collaboration with the Critical Minerals Forum, represents a pivotal step in addressing the growing global demand for critical minerals, which are essential for decarbonisation and sustainable energy solutions. Leveraging AD Ports Group’s world-class infrastructure, including our expansive network of ports, terminals, and shipping routes, we are uniquely positioned to support resilient and diversified supply chains. This collaboration underscores our commitment to enabling trade and driving global economic growth, while contributing to the transition to a greener future” said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, MD and Group CEO of AD Ports Group.

According to the International Energy Agency, producing an EV requires six times more mineral input than a conventional car. Demand for key minerals like graphite, cobalt, and nickel is expected to increase 20-fold, and lithium demand 13-fold by 2040. The World Bank estimates that 3 billion tonnes of critical minerals will be required by 2050 to decarbonise the global energy system.

CMF’s Role and Shared Vision

The Critical Minerals Forum unites stakeholders from across the value chain—miners, processors, manufacturers, investors, and governments—to foster more resilient and transparent mineral supply systems. AD Ports Group’s infrastructure will play a vital role in achieving these goals.

“This partnership marks a significant step forward in ensuring the resilience and diversification of critical minerals supply chains globally. Critical minerals often move between multiple continents from mine to processor to manufacturer. AD Ports Group’s extensive logistics capabilities will be instrumental in achieving our shared goals.” said Rob Strayer, President of CMF.

Strategic and Economic Impact

Both parties recognise that the MoU is a strategic catalyst for international growth and economic development. It not only addresses growing mineral demand but also positions both organisations to tap into high-potential regional and global markets. The initiative supports economic diversification, competitive advantage, and the transition to a low-carbon global economy.

This partnership between AD Ports Group and the Critical Minerals Forum represents a bold, forward-thinking step in meeting global decarbonisation goals. By strengthening supply chain infrastructure and collaboration, the two organisations aim to lead the way in powering the next generation of green industry and sustainable growth.
