AD Ports Group (ADX: ADPORTS), a prominent player in global trade, logistics, and industrial services, has kicked off the deployment of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite services across its fleet and terminal operations worldwide. This is a major leap in the Group’s digital transformation journey, designed to provide vessels with real-time data and ensure reliable, always-on connectivity for ports and terminals, ultimately driving new efficiencies and fuel savings. The global rollout commenced this month, following a series of agreements the Group made with two leading LEO satellite service providers, reports AD Ports Group.

Enabling Smart, Resilient Infrastructure

Mohamed Jamal-Eddine, Group Chief Information Officer, AD Ports Group, said:
“LEO satellite connectivity serves as the digital backbone that unlocks the full potential of our technology ecosystem. With high-speed, low-latency communications, we can deploy advanced AI applications for predictive maintenance, dynamic route optimisation, and automated cargo tracking in real-time. This is not just about faster connectivity; it’s about creating a smart, resilient infrastructure that maintains business continuity even in the most remote areas. By integrating this connectivity with our IoT sensors, smart port platforms, and AI analytics, we are building a truly connected supply chain that provides unparalleled visibility and control to our customers and partners.”

Deployment Across Fleet and Terminals

The phased rollout has begun on several vessels within the Group’s impressive fleet of 270 ships. LEO services deliver high-speed, low-latency communications that enable real-time vessel tracking, predictive maintenance, and dynamic route optimisation. Crucially, the LEO-supported infrastructure will also facilitate AI-driven applications at sea, such as smarter voyage planning, fuel optimisation, and enhanced safety monitoring, unlocking efficiencies that were once hindered by connectivity limitations.

At the port level, this rollout extends to AD Ports Group’s network of 34 terminals across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Central, and Southwest Asia. The technology will ensure seamless communications and business continuity, especially in remote areas and during critical operations. It will also bolster cargo monitoring, emergency response coordination, and overall service reliability.

Strengthening Digitalisation Efforts

This initiative is a key part of AD Ports Group’s wider digitalisation strategy, which includes smart port platforms, integrated supply chain systems, and the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. With LEO satellite connectivity as the backbone, these platforms will now offer more detailed, real-time insights and enhanced automation across global operations.

Commitment to Innovation and Growth

The launch of LEO services marks a significant moment for AD Ports Group as it reinforces its commitment to driving digital innovation and fostering sustainable growth within the global maritime sector. The Group is dedicated to investing in cutting-edge technologies and forming strategic partnerships to provide top-notch solutions that create real value for customers, partners, and stakeholders around the world.
