ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) and TA’ZIZ have signed a historic 50-year strategic agreement to develop the United Arab Emirates’ first dedicated chemicals port at the TA’ZIZ Industrial Chemicals Zone in Al Ruwais. This $300 million project marks a significant step in supporting the UAE’s industrialization and chemicals expansion goals, positioning the nation as a growing global hub for chemical production and export.

A Major Investment to Boost Industrial Growth

Under the long-term agreement, ADNOC L&S will build, own, and operate the port, while TA’ZIZ will utilize it to export chemicals and their derivatives efficiently. The facility, scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, is expected to generate over $1.3 billion in revenue for ADNOC L&S over the first 27 years.

The port will feature shore-to-ship power connections from the clean energy grid, along with three berths two for liquid and one for dry cargo ensuring sustainable and efficient operations that align with the UAE’s clean energy ambitions.

Enabling TA’ZIZ’s Expanding Chemicals Production

The new port will play a key role in supporting TA’ZIZ’s growing chemicals capacity. By 2028, TA’ZIZ aims to produce 4.7 million tonnes per annum of key chemicals such as methanol, low-carbon ammonia, caustic soda, ethylene dichloride, vinyl chloride monomer, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

According to Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC L&S, this agreement will provide long-term, predictable revenue while contributing to the UAE’s industrial growth. Similarly, Mashal Al-Kindi, CEO of TA’ZIZ, emphasized that the port’s strategic location near fast-growing Asian and African markets will enable efficient exports and strengthen the UAE’s position in the global chemicals sector.

The partnership between ADNOC L&S and TA’ZIZ marks a major milestone in the UAE’s journey toward industrial diversification and sustainability. By combining advanced logistics with growing chemical production, the new dedicated chemicals port will not only enhance export efficiency but also support the UAE’s vision of becoming a world-scale player in the chemicals industry.
